Questions & Answers for Marineland Mini Jet Adjustable Flow Aquarium Pumps

Question

Marineland MN606UL Mini-Jet Adjustable Flow Pump 606, 82-153 GPH

Can you send me a plot of flow rate vs. water height for this pump? I need quite low flow but I want to pump it 3-4 ft to fill a water dish for birds from a tank every other day using a timer.
Thanks, Harry

I will send you a chart via e-mail in a moment but essentially the max head is 4 ft., which means the flow rate is ~0 at 4’. If the pump and water supply are moved up (less than 4 feet of head, including tubing resistance to flow), the pump should do what it is being asked to do.

Hello,
According to the chart, the flow rate at 36" inches of height, the flow rate would be about 60 gallons per hour. The pump manuals would be located on the product page on the website. You can click on the red tabs under the products to locate all relevant information. If it is not there yet, you may contact customer service and we may be able to email you a copy. 1-800-526-0650.

Question

small submersible pumps

Hi,
I am looking at your NJ400 and Mini-Jet pumps. They both offer a connector to install plastic tubing on the outlet, but I need to have tubing on the inlet as well. Is this feasible with these models? If tubing is connected to the inlet, are these pumps still "adjustable flow"? What is the smallest flow-rate pump with tubing on both inlet and outlet that you sell?

Flow rate” is the volume of water that moves through a pump in a certain amount of time. The standard unit for this property is gallons per hour(gph). The stated flow rates for these pumps are based on the assumption that the pump is fully submerged and that the user is not trying to pump water up above the water line.
When using Maxi-Jet Power Heads to power an undergravel filter the user will generally want have a flow rate sufficient to provide 4 to 6 tank-volume turnovers per hour(Ex: MP400-use for up to a 29gal aquarium-106gph/~25gal=~4 turnovers per hour)
“Head pressure” is the pressure(or resistance) encountered by a pump when water is pumped above the water line via a hose or tube of some sort. Data showing “maximum pumping height” or “maximum head pressure” indicates the distance above the water line at which there will be no water flow. To determine what flow rate a pump will have at a specific pumping height you can reference a graph.

MODEL = MN 404
WATTS = 5
minimum-maximum flow rate at zero head pressure (gph) = 18-108
maximum pumping height (head pressure) (inches) = 32

MODEL = MN 606
WATTS = 6
minimum-maximum flow rate at zero head pressure (gph) = 82-153
maximum pumping height (head pressure) (inches) = 46

Question

How much current does the Mini-Jet 404 submersible pump draw? What are it's electrical specifications?

I'm trying to incorporate this water pump onto a water level controller circuit consisting of a solid state electromagnetic relay but I need to know the electrical spec's of the pump in order to proceed further. I'd appreciate any information you could provide.

Thank you,

Chris
